The International Day of Yoga has been welcomed annually on 21 June since 2015, following its establishment in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is originated in India. Narendra Modi, The Indian Prime Minister in his UN address proposed the date of 21 June, as it is the extended day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special importance in many areas of the world.
Yoga is an indispensable prize of Indias ancient tradition. It embodies unity of body and mind action and thought; fulfilment and restraint; harmony between nature and man a holistic approach to well-being and health. It is not only about exercise but to explore the sense of oneness and inner peace within yourself, the nature and the world. Creating consciousness and by changing our lifestyle, it can help in well-being. Let us work towards accepting and embrace an International Yoga Day.
